Students celebrate Unity Days twice a year where they work on team-building activities to create a climate of positive collaboration. They continue this spirit through multi-cultural weeks and fairs, as well as through programs where high-performing students tutor English Language students, or students who have special needs.
Because the atmosphere is very positive, many visitors often comment on how welcoming and naturally open the campus is.
Students enjoy working in groups, discussing topics and debating historical situations together. Because my campus is diverse with a wide range of languages spoken, ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic levels, students often feel that they learn through each other. This creates a very collaborative, challenging, yet attainable feel.
My Project
My students need to practice their presentation skills. This is a skill that is useful in my class as well as other classes. Students learn projection, articulation, poise, eye contact and the value of word choice.
Students are able to give better presentations when they have the best resources.
I am requesting a document camera so that when students present their notes to the class, or other small documents, they are able to put the document under the camera and present on the information. Students do not have to worry about holding their paper up for the class while they present, or worry about walking around the class so that everyone can see it.
I am additionally requesting crayons so that my students can add color to their posters which will also enhance their presentations. Colorful posters will be able to be seen better, and allow students the ability to add a creative element to their projects and presentations.
