My school has a culture of togetherness. Students celebrate Unity Days twice a year where they work on team-building activities to create a climate of positive collaboration. They continue this spirit through multi-cultural weeks and fairs, as well as through programs where high-performing students tutor English Language students, or students who have special needs. Because the atmosphere is very positive, many visitors often comment on how welcoming and naturally open the campus is. This school-wide climate is also seen in my classroom. Students enjoy working in groups, discussing topics and debating historical situations together. Because my campus is diverse with a wide range of languages spoken, ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic levels, students often feel that they learn through each other. This creates a very collaborative, challenging, yet attainable feel.
