My Project

My students are fun loving, energetic kindergarteners who love to learn about the world through hands on experiences. Part of our reading curriculum focuses on literature about plants, flowers, harvesting and life cycles of plants. I would love for my students to be able to experience planting first hand and make a real life connection to the stories we read during this unit.

Planting in the classroom will give my students, who live in an urban community, an opportunity to experience planting seeds and observe the growth and life cycle of a sunflower plant right before their eyes.

In addition to the connection to our reading curriculum, planting will help my kindergarteners learn about responsibility, importance of nurturing and foster an appreciation for nature. It is a fun and engaging way to learn about plant life, care, growth and factors that affect their survival.
