Let’s Open My Students' Minds With Empowerment Reading Material

Help me give my students more novels for each of them to have their own books and build up some classroom supplies and snacks as well. Thank you

My Students

My students are very personable, curious, willing to take risks, innocent, wanderers, talkers, funny, and sometimes crazy. I like them because they remind me of when I was young but they have more awareness along with being still innocent as 10 and 11 years old. I lived more in a bubble and wasn’t aware of my surroundings or the world.

My students are COVID survivors.

They have been able to adapt to these crazy times and most are trying to manage. Many of them don’t mind the COVID problems. They just want to interact with other kids. They have been shut down from socializing with other kids in other classes due to the restrictions, however, some of them let loose on the bus or walking home with other kids.

Class work has been tough. I would say 1/2 of my kids after parent conferences don’t have parental support or encouragement to learn. Some of my kiddos are sad because mom or dad live somewhere else or their only parent is struggling with finding a career and how to manage their life. I am hoping that their future becomes brighter after COVID.

My Project

I want each of my students to have their own novel to read as a class instead of sharing 22 novels. It is easier for my students to make their own notes in their own novel as well as promoting increased oral discussions in class.

Included in my book request are some great entrepreneur and black history novels.

I want to have some collaboration regarding creative ideas to help promote those that might want to start their own business or get involved in present or future issues.

The list contains some classroom supplies like colored paper and ink to make some handouts livelier and snacks for the students.
