Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students, and many of the other students at our school, are having trouble with executive functioning skills like emotional regulation, interrupting, and staying focused. We need to give them the tools to build their vocabulary and awareness as to how to better function in the classroom and with other students and staff members.
When students are confident in their social skills and are emotionally literate, they are more successful in school.
This project will provide me with books to read and lessons to teach my students how to function appropriately in a group, how to connect with other students and adults, and how to "read" social situations in order to know what behavior is expected.
By adding these books to my library of social emotional books, I will not only be able to help my students, but I will also be able to share these books and resources with my colleagues, ideally benefitting the whole school!
