This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a Title I, Pre-Kindergarten Public School in Newport News. Our school accepts those that are identified as academically high risk and we provide school readiness activities for 4 and 5 year-old children, in full-day programs. We have a large number of students that are Dual Language Learners.
We have roughly 530 students in our school that will benefit from the outside music wall in our Outdoor Garden Project.
Our students are little learners that are visual and hands-on. We experiment, investigate, research, explore, create, think and build! Your generous gift will add to our learning success. We greatly appreciate your time and consideration.
My Project
Our school is creating an outside music wall to give students an opportunity to express themselves through dance and movement. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to bang on the Tam Tam outside without having to worry about the noise level in their classroom.
Musical experiences in childhood can actually accelerate brain development, particularly in the areas of language acquisition and reading skills.
Children can express their feelings, anger, love, passion, joy and other kinds of feelings through music. This will give them the opportunity to enjoy the different sounds and effects that a Tam Tam can make.
