My Students

Our school follows the International Baccalaureate program. It encourages inquiry with hands-on experiences. My 1st grade students are a highly energetic, inquisitive group who love to ask questions and make connections to their world. We are an elementary school of 900+ students. As you can imagine with a school of this size, our little ones often get overlooked for resources! Our school lacks the technology resources that would really improve the students' learning experience. Our teachers are committed to providing our students with every learning opportunity possible.

My Project

My students love listening to read aloud stories. However, it is not always possible for me to read several books per day. By funding a listening center for my students, we are offering them more opportunities to explore these books discussing tolerance.

We are working on helping our students develop tolerance for others.

I am requesting books that focus on the definition of tolerance and examples of being tolerant. Together, the children can listen to the books, which exhibit characteristics of tolerance. There is a wide variety of books for the children to choose from, allowing for more levels of books for their learning.

If they have choices available to them, they can select a book during read to self or listen to reading that they enjoy.
