Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I absolutely love my job and I have the privilege of working in a Title I school that qualifies 100% of our kids to have free breakfast and lunch. I have the opportunity to teach 18 amazing students, 11 of whom are English Language Learners. They come to school every day excited and ready to learn. They are all at a variety of reading skills, but that doesn't stop them from wanting to learn!
My students enjoy reading material that is fun and engaging!
They get excited when they learn something new and I would love the opportunity to provide them with engaging reading material that will help build their vocabulary and reading comprehension.
My Project
I teach at a Title I school and my students come from very diverse backgrounds. They do not always have access to quality reading material at home to help build their literacy skills, particularly nonfiction texts. Scholastic News offers standard based reading material with vocabulary and reading comprehension built in. This would be a great supplement to my reading curriculum!
My students need engaging material that will interest them and Scholastic News offers just that!
With new and relevant topics every month, my students will stay engaged, while building their vocabulary and reading comprehension. This resource will target concepts such as main idea/topic, key details, and nonfiction text features. The best part, is that students will be able to take the magazines home and have quality reading material available to them.
