My Students

Can you imagine moving to a new city or state? What about moving to a whole new country? Not to mention, the possibility of having no formal education and limited English proficiency. This is the case for many of my students. Nonetheless, the students I work with are absolutely amazing! I teach at a Title l elementary school in Kansas and solely work with small groups of English Language Learners.

My students are hard-working and so much fun to be around.

Because English is their second language, reading can become challenging and intimidating when reading with peers. When given opportunities and great instruction, I know my students are capable of anything!

My Project

These materials will help my English Language Learners master their alphabet and the letter sounds. Too many of my English Language Learners in immediate grade levels do not have a solid alphabetic foundation, making it extremely difficult to read intermediate-level classroom texts. With these materials, my students will have the ability to learn their letters in a fun and engaging way. By using engaging materials, my students will learn their letters and begin learning to read using this foundation. Additionally, these manipulatives will increase students' spelling skills for classroom spelling tests.
