Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are energetic first graders! They walk in with a smile and personalities that would light up any room. My students have an incredible thirst to learn!

This project would complete my classroom and help start my new first graders in the fall with learning supplies and organization.

Students love using our lap boards daily for spelling and working out math equations. Unfortunately, some of our lap boards have seen better days. Many of our boards are chipped, cracked, and some are just stained (even after appropriate cleaning). New lap boards would brighten up their day and increase their desire to use them and stay focused.

First graders are still learning to be responsible. We lose several pencils a day. The pencil holders will help my students keep track of their pencil and help our supplies last a little longer. The mailboxes will help my students be more independent and responsible. Students will have an individual place for their folders and supplies that will be placed in the photo boxes (scissors, glue sticks, crayons). This will help class work activities run efficiently as all my first graders will be able to find their supplies quickly and get to work. At the end of the day folder distribution will go smoother and faster to get us to our dismissal location. The magnetic organizer will help keep supplies organized on our white board for both me and my students throughout the day. Supplies at hand help a classroom run efficiently and helps students stay focused.
