The technology allows us to design clear, visual emotion charts, coping strategy menus, and check-in tools that students can access quickly and consistently throughout the day. These supports help students identify how they are feeling, choose appropriate calming strategies, and communicate their needs in a safe, respectful way.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is that the charts are interactive, visual, and personalized. Students can see emotions represented in concrete ways, match their feelings to visuals, and select coping tools that work best for them. This makes emotional regulation feel less overwhelming and more manageable. Many students enjoy having control over their choices and feel empowered when they can independently use the charts to calm themselves or ask for help.\r\n\r\nSeveral students—particularly those who struggle with verbal communication, anxiety, or emotional regulation—have really connected with this technology. Autistic students and students receiving emotional support have shown increased confidence and independence when using the charts. Some students who previously became overwhelmed now pause, reference the chart, and select a calming strategy on their own. Others are better able to explain their feelings before a situation escalates.
