We are a new school in Katy, Texas, that was affected by Hurricane Harvey. We opened for our first year, and a week later, Hurricane Harvey hit. The neighborhood that we sit in was flooded, and many of our families were displaced. Fortunately, our school sustained minimal damage. Throughout this school year, our enrollment has fluctuated as students have moved back home. We’ve also had an influx of temporary, displaced students.
The need for Math Intervention has greatly increased as our population has changed.
I love that I get to work with so many students with a variety of needs. I truly feel that I have the best job in our building!
My Project
My Math Intervention students love to share their thinking with each other! Using KleenSlate Dry Erase boards will make it easier for them to learn from each other.
These KleenSlate Dry Erase boards are flexible enough for all of my K-5 students to use.
Our current boards are scratched and difficult to write on. These new boards are unique in that we can customize them with templates for the diverse needs of my various grade levels. We will also be able to cut down on paper usage, which saves us money.
Using dry erase boards encourages math students to take risks in their thinking. Being able to quickly record thoughts, and then adjust thinking is extremely powerful! By using these dry erase boards, my students will learn from each other.
