My Project

My students in our 12:1:1 alternate assessment classroom are learning skills that go far beyond academics. They are building independence, responsibility, and the confidence needed to succeed in everyday life. For many of my students, hands-on learning experiences are the most meaningful way to understand important life lessons. Cleaning and caring for their environment is one of those powerful opportunities.

We are requesting cleaning supplies such as disinfecting wipes, paper towels, spray bottles, gloves, brooms, dustpans, and other basic materials to help turn daily routines into real-world learning experiences.

These supplies will allow students to participate in classroom jobs that teach responsibility, teamwork, and pride in their work.

Every day, students can rotate through meaningful roles such as sanitizing desks, organizing materials, sweeping floors, wiping tables, and restocking supplies. Through these tasks, students learn that every job matters and that no responsibility is too small when it helps a community run smoothly. They begin to understand that custodians, maintenance workers, cleaners, and service employees play an essential role in every school, business, and neighborhood.

These experiences also support communication, following directions, motor skills, sequencing, and independent living skills—all critical goals for alternate assessment learners. Most importantly, students gain dignity through contribution. They see themselves as capable, helpful, and valued members of our classroom community.

With your support, these cleaning supplies will become tools for empowerment. They will help students learn the importance of hard work, respect for shared spaces, and the value of every job in our society. Thank you for helping us create meaningful lessons that prepare students for life beyond the classroom.
