Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have multiple disabilities and learning even the most basic skills of daily living can be a great challenge to them. Many struggle to stay motivated. Despite their disabilities, food still speaks to them.

Snack time is my students' favorite part of the day, but some students cannot afford to bring a snack to school every day so I provide them with snacks in class and at home.

In addition to giving snacks as rewards and to keep them motivated they also look forward to taking snacks home with them at the end of the day. Most of my students come from low-income families and their main source of food comes from school so having extra snacks in the classroom allows me to send snacks home with them.
