My Project

I work with the most amazing special needs students. They work hard and really want to do well. We are in need of expanding our supplies for regulating emotions, as well as making our vocational skills lessons more hands-on for the more disabled learners. Currently we are focusing on hands-on exposure to technical careers to provide realistic opportunities to spark an interest. Areas we are exploring include photography, mechanics, and use of tools. As part of this process we are also teaching new coping skills for when the students may experience frustration and ways to handle it in an expected manner. Our students are learning to use real life tools and other job equipment to prepare them for independent living in the future. While learning these skills are much needed, they also present students with frustration. To help accommodate these frustrations, expanded calming tools would be beneficial. Please consider donating to these amazing students!
