The Kindergarten classroom has a special kind of energy. The students are excited to learn about everything at this age. They are fearless in the way they approach a new concept.
My students are inquisitive and excited when new concepts are presented to them.
They adapted very well to the flexible seating options that were introduced to them. I found by giving them options to choose something as simple as a choice where to sit improved their ability to self regulate their behavior and helped them maintain focused during the lesson. We do small group activities in our classroom. Flexible seating helps keep students engaged in an activity by allowing for more comfortable and efficient work areas than with traditional seating. It also allows for the teacher to observe the students different learning styles and behaviors.
The materials I requested will be used with students in small groups and learning center work. It is very important for students to develop phonological awareness on their journey towards becoming fluent readers. The Listen and Learn Phonics Center along with the phones will allow students to hear themselves as they practice their skills. These centers will allow students to self-correct their reading and also work closely with their peers.
The items requested were chosen to guide and motivate my students to work on reading skills.
Kindergarten students are fearless in their approaches to learning new things. I feel this project will help them develop and retain information all readers need to succeed.
