Have you ever wanted to learn to play a musical instrument? Imagine the joy and excitement a child feels when they hold a new musical instrument for the first time. Imagine their delight when they feel the strings vibrate as they strum, and hear music fill the room as their friends join in!
My students are eager and enthusiastic young musicians!
They love to learn how a musical instrument works, how it is played and they ESPECIALLY LOVE string instruments!
My students come from a variety of backgrounds, however most of my students would never have the opportunity to take private lessons on a string instrument. More than half of my students are from low-income families living in rural communities and suburban housing.
My students LOVE coming to music class and playing instruments with their friends!
My Project
Ask a child what instrument they would love to be able to play and they will say, "Guitar!" Ukuleles are the perfect starter string instrument. With their easy-to-hold size and easy-to-play nylon strings, children can quickly be successful with a ukulele. Learning to play a ukulele is a great foundation for learning other string instruments down the road.
By donating to our project, you can help put a string instrument in the hands of a child; you can help them achieve success and ignite a life-long passion for musicianship.
Through the ukulele, students would be learning about everything from harmony and chord structure, to the music of cultures around the world. Students would also be able to use the ukuleles for various performance opportunities along with our other classroom instruments.
My students already have a tremendous love for music and instruments, and I hope that this project will provide them the opportunity to learn to play a string instrument, further enriching their musical journey.
