Can you imagine going to school for the first time and not being able to understand anything the teacher is saying? This is what 64% of my class experiences the first semester of school each year. How amazing it would be to have a variety of tools to help them succeed.
My school is 64 % ENL and so is my class.
My class is a mixture of American, Hispanic and Burmese students. My students are some of the cutest, brightest and funniest kiddos that I know. They touch my heart from the moment that they walk through my door. It is a joy for me to watch them learn and grow as the year progresses.
My Project
I am requesting alphabet beanbags, an alphabet mystery box, and a variety of alphabet/sound learning games. These materials will be used by kiddos during literacy stations, interventions and focus time. During literacy stations, they will be learning their ABC's and sounds while working at a teacher led station. For interventions, they will be working one on one or in a small group with an assistant. Focus time will be a time of enrichment and/or remediation for the kiddos depending on their need.
Donations to this project will allow the kiddos to be exposed to different ways of learning their ABC's and letter sounds.
I envision the kiddos having a BLAST while learning as we lay the foundation for reading.
