Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our city has been ranked as America's most dangerous city. The majority of the students in my class receive free or reduced-price lunch. Despite the challenges my students face living in this environment, they come to school eager to learn and grow. For many students, school is their safe place, and I want to create the best environment possible for them to feel safe, secure, and cared for. They are the future of this city and have the potential to improve their community.
My Project
We have noticed our students are curious about different kinds of balls, how people use balls, what they are made of, what is inside them, and how high they can bounce.
We’ll be using thinking skills to investigate, ask questions, solve problems, make predictions, and test our ideas about balls.
The books will be used for whole group and small group read alouds, book discussions, and as additions to our classroom library for student independent access.
The basketballs, footballs, and soccer balls will be used both in the classroom and on our playground. They will be stored in the container box for easy independent access, protection from the elements outdoors, and to share with the threee others pre-k classes.
