My students are a group of 20 inquisitive young minds, all of whom love playing outside and learning about nature. They are energetic, enthusiastic about learning, and would benefit from more hands-on learning activities.
In our classroom, students come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
There are some who are reading novels, and there are some who are just learning their letters and numbers. These students work hard to get engaged in their learning and get brighter every day. They love playing together and listening to stories.
My Project
If this project gets funded, I am hoping to use these resources to set up a grow lab in our classroom. The materials I am requesting include plant grow lamps, that can sit on our counter and shine brightly down on some of the other requested materials - seeds, soil, and pots. Students will have the chance to use their artistic skills in creating their flower pots, and then we'll select seeds and watch them grow!
Not only will this project help students learn more about life cycles through observation, it will get them discussing topics including photosynthesis and root systems.
My hope is that students will cultivate a garden, and then be inspired to continue growing.
