Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students want to give back to those who have been kind to them. I teach visual arts to over 350 needy students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Students from another school recently gave gifts to all of my students. In an effort to give back, my students would love to create clay pendants for the students who generously gave to them. However, we need supplies.

We especially need ceramic glazes for the clay pendants. Glaze is the missing ingredient that will give the clay pieces the special properties of brilliant color and shine.

As a result of your help, my students will be able to create clay pendants that they will be proud to give to others. Not only will they be able to learn about the chemical reaction that takes place when clay pieces are glazed and then fired in a kiln; but, they will also learn appropriate life lessons. My students will learn that saying thank you in creative ways is cool.
