My class is amazing. This group of little learners is growing and changing every day into a compassionate community. Many have never had an formal preschool experience. Others arrive with a year or two of preschool behind them. This difference in background knowledge requires me to use every resource I have to ensure I meet the needs of every student. Our class is made up of students from a rural community. They are from a variety of cultural backgrounds, and some are English Language Learners. Their socioeconomic status varies widely as well, so this creates even more need for equity.
These kindergarten students inspire me every day with their resilience and love of learning.
I hope you'll consider giving to our classroom.
My Project
My classroom needs a sturdy, sensory table for materials such as sand, water, rice, feathers, playdough, and other manipulatives. This great table will stand up to kindergarten students and has a drain for water. It provides space for 4-5 students at a time to play.
Sensory tables help students to learn and engage their senses and develop their fine motor skills.
Children also develop cognitive and academic skills by counting, organizing, and sorting. Another benefit is language development as children work together to problem solve and learn new vocabulary. One of the biggest benefits is that they help children to be more centered and relaxed.
