Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Providing different types of balls for my students will not only encourage physical activity and teamwork, but it will also support positive behavior during recess. By offering a variety of options, students will be able to engage in structured play that helps them focus their energy in positive and productive ways. With a more organized and enjoyable recess, students can release stress, build social skills, and reduce conflicts. Students will return to the classroom more focused and ready to learn.
My goal is to create a more engaging and balanced recess that benefits all students and supports positive behavior.
With different types of balls, students will have more options for structured play, reducing idle time and promoting cooperation. This will not only help with physical development but will also support positive behavior, as students will have outlets to work off energy and practice good sportsmanship. I aim to create an environment where students are motivated to engage in positive activities during recess.
My students come from a low socioeconomic neighborhood in Los Angeles. They have unique personalities and talents. The opportunity for them to have different types of balls will allow them to express their personalities and interests during play. By having access to a variety of balls during recess, they can channel their energy into positive activities that help them practice sportsmanship, self-regulation, and social skills.
