We have an amazing group of new students heading our way and we want them to have the best experience ever! We serve students ranging in development and many of our students benefit from receiving special education services. We strive to embody our school motto: Achieving Success through Play and Communication. We work hard to create opportunities for all of our students to communicate effectively with one another, develop positive social skills, grow and learn all while engaged in meaningful play!
My Project
As the second half of the school year is upon us we are heading full speed towards Kindergarten! With additional math and literacy manipulatives such as the math stamps and the sorting mats we will have more opportunities for active learning. These materials will provide our students with access to more independent learning within our math center where they can use math manipulatives to sort, pattern, graph and count, helping them prepare for Kindergarten. The Code a Pillar will be a fun resource to introduce the children to STEM by playing cooperatively to create different patterns with the caterpillar. The listening center components are the most expensive items requested and with your help I will be able to give this resource to the children. The CD player is a must for any good listening center and this will help us be able to use the CDs from our curriculum and our classroom library to listen to stories and work in early reading skills. The wireless headphones will help tremendously as our headphones are always breaking and getting tangled. The sand and water table materials we will have more access to fine motor control activities, water play and letter play in the sand and water table. The sand timers are very important for our children to be able to be more independent in their time management of working through centers and also to assist in sharing. The hamburger set will provide the children with a fun opportunity to use math skills in dramatic play. The mystery box will assist with our literacy lessons while we learn with letter manipulatives for the letter of the week as well as part of our science center and 5 senses.
