This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a fourth and fifth-grade intervention specialist. I work with students diagnosed with a variety of disabilities.
My students are very hard workers, striving to overcome many adverse situations.
We are a school in urban Columbus; our students come to us from all walks of life. Many of our students get their only warm meals while at school and may not know where they are sleeping for the night. We have an extremely high percentage of students who come from non-English speaking households.
Despite these barriers, our students come to school with positive attitudes and a hunger for knowledge. We have a very dedicated staff that strives to meet the diverse needs of all of our students. Together, we strive to make a positive impact in all of our students' lives!
My Project
The books that I have included in this project will help me grow as educator. I teach students with disabilities how to read each day. These books utilize the newest science of reading research to give educators useful strategies to teach struggling readers!
These books will help me use new research to teach my students more effectively and improve their reading skills!
I love learning new things that help my students. The books I have chosen come highly rated and recommended. They will give me ideas of hand-on activities that will directly benefit my students.
