My Project
The current school library space is designed for older students. The kindergarten and 1st grade students are swallowed by the large chairs, and have to sit on the floor. The rug would create a comfortable sitting arrangement, with built in learning guides, like the alphabet and sight words. Also, the sight words are in both English and Spanish. We are a Dual Language school, which makes the space feel inclusive. There is also no storytime chair for the reader to sit and be the focal point. The chair would serve this process, bringing the book closer to the audience.
