Mrs. Chase from Sumter SC is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students inspiration to change the world and come back from disappointment. Class sets of these two books will help my students build character and relate to someone who has been through similar experiences.

My students are wonderful young people. They are getting through their first year in high school and trying to figure a lot out. Most of them come to me when they are feeling sad, happy, excited, nervous, stressed. They tell me everything and feel comfortable enough to come to me when they need something.
Several of my kids call me "mom," because while they are in school, I push them to be their best and comfort them when they need it, so for them, I'm their school mom.
Having this rapport with them makes it much easier to help them in school. They are more open to learning from me and they feel more comfortable asking me for help than their other teachers.
I am constantly trying to inspire my students to do great things. It's difficult since I did not grow up in a similar environment to them. They don't see my experiences as relatable. These two books can help show them that someone their own age, who has similar life experiences, can change the world. And if that person can, why can't my students?
I whole-heartedly believe my students can do great things, and with these books, they might believe it, too.
They need to see people like them doing great things. Please me help to get my students these books.
A set of 15 of both of these books will help me teach new students each year. This year it may only reach 30 students, but each new school year it will reach 30 new ones.
