My Students

I teach two classes of about 25 students, math and science each day. Our science curriculum is aligned to the NGSS but the district is still working towards suppling the materials needed to fully embrace these new standards.

My students are full of energy and ready to learn.

They love hands on activities in both mathematics and science. I work to incorporate technology into most of our daily lessons but still try to keep them engage on other aspects of learning.

I find that my students needed real-world exposure in order to really connect to the content that I am teaching.

My Project

Science curriculum is moving in a new direction. Students no longer are required to just memorize facts and vocabulary. I want to incorporate reading skills and current event knowledge into our science class. Scholastic Science is an amazing resource to do just that!

Students will use the Science Spin magazines to build their non-fiction reading and comprehensions skills.

We will use them to connect our lessons to real life experiences, which many students lack.

Science Spin gives students the opportunity to experience things, through reading, that many of them would not, outside of the classroom.

I look forward to incorporating a love of non-fiction reading into my lessons!
