Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students fill my day with so much joy! They are a total of 13 five and six year old that are eager to learn something new. My students come from low poverty households and our classroom is their oasis. Each and every day, my students are faced with critical decisions at home as to what they will have for dinner or where they will place their head to sleep. When my students come into the class, I see the excitement in their eyes and how safe they feel walking in.
My students, along with their peers face many challenges and yet, they are excited to come to the campus and learn.
My heart aches when I think about them and what kind of household life they live. If it was up to me, I would make sure that they have something to eat and somewhere to sleep. Our school serves students in grades K-5 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment.
My Project
The use of flexible seating is a daily activity in my classroom, especially during guided time and centers. Using flexible seating wobble chairs will allow my students to be more at ease and if they feel the need to move, they will be able to squirm and wobble around in their seat without interrupting their peers. Students now a day, learn differently! They don't want to be sitting in an ordinary chair, when they can have an up to date stylish chair! The regular desk is out the window, and has made room for flexible seating. Flexible seating is what's in and will make a difference in my kinder class!
