My Project

My 3rd graders are so bright and excited to come to school each day! Although COVID-19 has altered their educational journey thus far, they remain passionate about learning and working together with their peers to grow both as learners and humans. The materials I've requested, such as seat storage organizers, pencil sharpener, turn in trays, and craft supply organizers, will help my 3rd graders to be more organized and ready for learning. Materials like the chair glides and broom will help ensure a tidy and quieter classroom. Pipe cleaners and dry erase erasers are requested for student work.

Our school is one of the oldest schools in our district on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

Up until the mid-'90s, children of the Oahu Sugar Company workers comprised the majority of the school population. The closing of the sugar plantation has brought many changes to our school community. Many of our families live in multi-family or multi-generational homes. Over 50% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches. 30% of our families speak a language other than English at home.

Our students are respectful, energetic, and inquisitive learners who come to school eager to learn. Their love for learning is evident in the way they enjoy learning and trying new things.
