Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are future art teachers, engineers, architects, and so much more. These are the dreams that have been communicated to me and dreams that are fostered through the Arts. With many students who come from low-income households, my classroom is usually the only place these students can receive an education that supports their dreams.
I love my students' passion for school and their devotion inspires me every day.
When I forget why I am a teacher on those rough days that all teachers have, they remind me through the things I see them create. When I see a child pour their soul into their art, when I see a student erasing until they get something just right, or when I see a student who doesn't like art but tries anyway, those are the moments that tell me how much these children deserve this. They show these artworks off with pride. They have a spark in their eyes and a love for learning and creating that is just unparalleled.
My Project
I have requested some organizational materials like a pencil organizer, and a hanging cell phone holder as well as some refills of art room supplies.
If you know any teachers, they could probably tell you what a distraction cell phones can be in a classroom!
At a previous school I taught at, each classroom had cell phone holders hanging on their doors and it improved the students' performance tremendously! I would love to implement this in my room so that students can focus on the work they are supposed to be doing and get more use out of their class time, distraction-free.
The supplies we ordered such as colored pencils and Sharpies, will refill our current dwindling stash and ensure that we have enough to last until the end of the school year. The measuring cup is for measuring liquid supplies such as paint, water, etc. And the jewelry hooks are for replenishing our current supply that we use as a way to turn our clay creations into pieces of jewelry.
