Getting these supplies would make a tremendous impact in my art room. Students would have the supplies they need in order to create wonderful works of art. Most of my students come from low-income backgrounds and see the art room as the only place they can explore their creative side. Research has shown that when children are allowed to explore creatively, their academic performance improves as well. They also improve their fine motor skills, decision making, and perseverance - all qualities that are important in any future career. Art is the glue that helps hold all other subjects together. I truly believe all students can become empowered through an Arts education. That is why I think that they should have access and exposure to as many materials as possible in my room. With this funding, I would be able to help these students begin their path to reaching their dreams, as well as introduce them to projects that will challenge and inspire them. Our classroom has had a lot of support in the past in terms of donations, but some of the donations need other parts in order for them to function (such as: we received many boxes of 3D Pen refills that students can use to make amazing 3-Dimensional sculptures, but no 3D Pen to do it with, and boxes full of yarn but no coiling cord in order to make coil baskets). Also requested are many everyday things that we are in need of that students use on a daily basis, such as papers, pencils, Sharpie markers, watercolor pencils, construction paper, dry erase markers and erasers, tape, rulers and refills for our watercolor paints. Thank you so much for your support!
