My students are smart, curious, creative, funny, hardworking, and friendly towards one another. My personal class consists of 20 students that represent families all over the world, as well as a variety of learning levels. My school has seventeen first grade classrooms and my K-2 school consists of over 1,000 students of diverse backgrounds. This can make teaching challenging because of the diverse learning abilities, but my students are always eager to learn. My students continually face obstacles head-on and continually strive to do better. Their drive and passion for learning are amazing!
My Project
Being a virtual teacher this year has been very challenging. It is even more challenging trying to get kids excited about reading. I want my students to excel, but this has proven to be difficult this year. I hope to change that with a home reading challenge.
I want students to set a reading goal and if they achieve that goal, I want to reward them for their hard-work.
I think this idea will motivate my students to try harder and will also help them excel through reading as they become more familiar with words.
I am asking for a bookshelf to house the books and rewards in order to keep them organized. I am hoping this will make the process quick when students pick their reward. I can't wait to get my kids excited about reading.
