My students need a writing center filled with all of the necessary tools and materials a writer would use, and this center will equip all students with everything they need to have fun with writing. We need a whiteboard, markers, a director's chair, colored pencils, sticky notes, a hole punch, and legal pads.
My 4th-grade students are awesome kids! They represent many different countries and many of my students are fluent in two languages. My class of 28 students are diverse in many ways. They are a diverse class in who they are, where they come from, the languages they speak, the way they learn, and so much more. I learn so much from my students! They come to me with a wealth of information that they love sharing. I love learning about their cultures, native countries, and their languages. We have a wonderful time learning from one another!
My students are enthusiastic about their education, and are always excited to learn new things.
They are working on building their writing skills and becoming independent writers. They have been working hard this year with practicing various writing genres and working our way through the writing process. I am amazed with how much my students learned this year about what it means to be a writer. We also spent a lot of time learning how to treat each other with kindness and respect, which helped us build a successful reading and writing community within our classroom.
My Project
Having a writing center in our classroom will equip my students with all of the materials they'll need for writing workshop. The writing process can be a daunting task for kids, simply because there are many steps to take in order to publish a piece of writing. I want to have a special place in our classroom where students can go to get exactly what they need to help them through the writing process. I want my kids to be excited to write! Having a writing center stocked with all of the necessary writing tools and materials will help motivate my students to get writing and have fun with it.
