Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school serves students in grades TK-5 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. I work at a Title I school where our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our school is also an ethnically diverse school and several students are faced with many challenges and obstacles in their lives.
Regardless of their many hardships, my students have positive attitudes and come to school ready to learn and work hard.
They want to be in school and learn all they can so they can be successful.
My Project
This project will help give my students high interest books for all students to enjoy. I am always looking for ways for my students to find new books that they enjoy. Graphic novels will enhance my students love for reading, build their reading fluency, and our classroom library. My students will also have more choices during silent reading time.
It is important for students to have a print rich environment with books that are engaging.
Graphic Novel will give them the opportunity to share their enjoyment of reading with friends. These books will help them have a more exciting experience for reading.
