We are a Title I school with above 75% poverty level. My students are at three campuses with each campus located in a different county. With few opportunities for employment and opportunities, students will continue to repeat the socioeconomic cycle.
The three schools are very rural and very isolated with little opportunity for cultural exchange.
Since each school is in a different county, it is extremely difficult to pull resources and students together. Access to technology and exposure to various career paths will help break the socioeconomic cycle.
My students are not only exceptional, they are the next generation of scientists, doctors, artists, teachers, and engineers and they deserve more things than I can provide to make them successful. They are thinkers, explorers, investigators, creators, writers, actors, journalist, musicians, videographers, photographers, and artist. They have attempted to enter digital video contests using a cell phone and an old camcorder where editing was not really an option. The sound quality and video were not a true reflection of the effort they put into the project. They are dynamic, challenging, bright, and humorous young people. With the proper equipment, they can showcase their talent and abilities.
My Project
Recently my students attempted to enter a digital recording competition using an old camcorder and cell phone. Editing was extremely difficult for them and the sound quality was terrible. They are very eager to learn about digital recording and they have several ideas in mind. A few of the ideas they would like to do are create a kindness campaign, a stop tobacco clip, and interview athletes after a game. With the Chromakey screen, kit, Chromakey suits, camcorder, and headsets with microphones they will be able to produce professional digital recordings.
Please help my students get quality digital media and my students will produce quality digital stories.
They are eager to get started recording. Future anchors, actors, broadcasters, reporters, and cinematographers are waiting to hear that curtain call.
