Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The idea is for us to be able to afford the supplies we will need throughout the school year. We have lots of projects lined up from drawing to painting. We will do origami, watercolor, inking, stamp. Making, still lives, and everything that will help these young artists bloom.

For starters, decent drawing paper and rulers for perspective drawing would be useful.

I want the final pieces these children make to be presentable for portfolios and for competitions like VASE. I believe it would help these kids know that they matter and that their artistic journey mattered to the community.

I believe that having access to quality materials will greatly improve the work being done by my students. Having access to canvases to paint on and water color paper that doesn't tear after a few coats of paint will give them more room to take chances on their artwork. Being able to have fresh oil pastels that are actually able to blend smoothly to help with realistic styles and portraits.

My students are amazing because they come from all age groups from 6th grade to seniors. I get the opportunity to see them grow. It would mean a lot to the students who have me for multiple years to get to have the same experiences I had in school. To see them using new materials that they can tell are higher quality. I tell them the material you create with doesn't matter but that the quality does. These kids are great and do so much. Some of them even stay after school up to 6 hours a week to learn more and work on competition pieces.
