Let's Get Creative!

My students need hands-on, creative materials, such as dominoes, crayons, geometric solids, blocks and counting chips to help them visualize and think outside the box.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

We serve a high poverty population of students.

There are about 280 6th grade students, and about 50% of them have a free or reduced lunch due to low income. I teach 140 of those 6th grade students.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

Most of my students when asked how they learn best replied with "hands on activities or projects". My students will be using these tools and resources daily. From writing their notes to adding drawings or sayings to help them remember best.The crayola pencils, markers, and crayons will allow students to get creative when working on projects.

Students who can not afford creative materials will now have the means to be creative in ways they never thought possible.

The chart paper will help students create their own t-charts in small groups, and or build upon others. The dominoes, 3D shapes, and pattern blocks will help students be more interactive with their math materials.
