My students need study carrels so they can focus on their assignments without their neighbors distracting them. The assorted bags will be used in a "Trade Simulation" activity in social studies.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Imaginations run rampant throughout my classroom of sixth grade students. Middle school students love technology along with hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges which allow and encourage them to think outside the box to find solutions!
Although many of my students come from low socioeconomic households, critical thinking and creativity are qualities often displayed by these students throughout each school day.
Our school is located in the southwestern portion of Georgia in what is referred to as the tri-state area.
My Project
Study carrels and expo erasers will help both the students and me with the daily organization of our middle school classroom.
My students will use the study carrels to help maintain focus on their independent daily assignments (technology based, written, reading comprehension, etc) without the distractions of their neighbors.
The colorful paper bags will be used in our social studies class trading simulation activity. In this simulation, middle school students will barter, sell and/or trade products. This hands on activity will teach the importance of economic concepts related to the various countries of the world (as pertain to our Georgia social studies standards).
