This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My fourth grade students are in a school located in the highest poverty area in our city in Michigan. 100% of our school gets free breakfast and free lunch. These students have little to no access to any reading material or technology at home. Our school does not have a school library at this time. These kids are bright and energetic and come to school ready to learn every day thanks to our school doing amazing things for the kids in our neighborhood every day.
My Project
My students have generously been donated chromebooks from DonorsChoose.org. Our students live in the highest poverty level of Flint, MI and struggle to provide basic school supplies. These students are facing struggles of high poverty and are the first real effected generation of the Flint water crisis. Headphones will help them effectively use the chromebooks and focus without being distracted by those around them. Because of the students age, we are asking for a class set of headphones so they can be assigned a pair to take care of and not have to share resulting in germ spreading and damage. By having these headphones the students will all be able to focus on the sites they need to be on, at their level, to enhance their learning. They will also be able to do research projects, watch learning videos and hear books read to them without distraction.
