Let's Expand the Garden!

Help me give my students a chance to garden by using hydroponics and traditional gardening techniques. We will focus on planting tulips during the fall gardening season, and establishing a hydroponic herb garden in the classroom setting.

My Project

This project will expand our current campus garden, and encourage students to enjoy the green spaces located throughout our community. During the fall months, we will spend some of our class time planting our tulip bulbs. Prior to planting the bulbs, students will learn the life cycle of tulips and the best time to plant. We will also spend some time learning proper planting techniques.

During the winter months, we will continue our gardening experience through hydroponic garden.

The students will begin, maintain, measure, and record the growth of plants in the hydroponic herb garden. Observing and maintaining a hydroponic garden will give students the opportunity to compare this system to a traditional garden.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
