My Project
Kids learn better on a full belly. Our school offers free breakfast and lunch to all of our kids. The majority of my class eats breakfast and lunch at school. Last year I started letting them have snacks, but bringing snacks was up to them. I found that many of my kids are unable to bring something from home.
The applesauce, chips, and mini Pop Tarts in this project will allow all of my students the chance to have a snack daily.
One of the biggest things I noticed about being back in person last school year, is the number of headaches my students got. I encouraged them to drink plenty of water, but this wasn't enough. We started having snacks about an hour after lunch. This is helping a lot of my kids with their headaches. I provided snacks the first week, but once I stopped, many of my kids were unable to continue bringing something daily. I plan on continuing snack time this school year. The snacks in this project will help keep my kids' bellies filled and headaches at bay for a while.
