Help me give my students the 3D pens and PLA filament which will allow students to design, create and showcase their talent.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Last Summer, I walked into one of the classrooms in Summer Camp and watched a teacher give a demonstration on "How to use a 3D pen with PLA filament". The students were jumping up and down with joy. Their faces were full of excitement!. If I would have taken a picture right then, It would have definitely been a Kodak moment. It was at that moment, that I said to myself," Wow I got to get some 3Dpens and PLA filament for my students". The students in grades 3-8 in my Computer classes have been learning how to use the Canva website and have created various projects.
I feel that by using the 3D pens and PLA filament with Canva , students would be able to create amazing projects that will compliment each other.
The 3D pens will allow students to get hands on experience with creativity, problem solving and critical thinking. The pens can help to illustrate concepts in math, history, art, and design. Using a 3D pen requires precision and control. This in turn would enhance motor skills that are essential in a technology driven world.
With the following Holidays coming up in May - Mothers Day and Memorial Day, the 3D pens would be a great tool for the students to have for decorating and designing cards in the Canva program. The 3Dpens are expensive, however the value and skillset that students would gain would off set the cost. In today's world and 20th century technology. The 3D pens can be used to add decorative details to variety of surfaces that we use in the classroom.
