Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am blessed to teach an amazing group of moderate/severe special education high school students. Our school is a Title I school serving a diverse population. The students I work with are determined and strive to persevere through social, emotional, and academic challenges. My Community-Based Instruction (CBI) class has worked with peers on the yearbook staff, attended school activities, and volunteered in the community. They excel with movement and hands-on experiences. I am blessed to be their teacher, and I strive to encourage students beyond their greatest expectations.

This table will serve as a flexible seating option, allowing students to choose where they would like to sit.

This table will make a difference in their lives by allowing students to create a safe and quiet space, whereby they can write essays, practice balancing a budget, or practice social skills. Providing students with a comfortable place to learn, helps to stir their imagination and bring forth one's creative self.

The adaptable drum is for a student who struggles verbally and is non-ambulatory. The drum will give the student an opportunity of choice and collaboration as we take part in our weekly drum sessions. Lastly, the LED glass dry-erase board offers my class a creative way to display the classroom rules. Thank you for believing in my students, and supporting Title I schools. I am grateful.
