Help me give my students a wonderful area of the classroom dedicated to collaboration! I am asking for a round table and chairs to use as a snack table to teach great table manners and food preparation.
Montessori Education is my passion. It is so for a variety of reasons, but most of all, because I get to lend a hand in growing the future leaders of tomorrow. Montessori students are educated fully, meaning that the academic expectation is very high but also their independence, self-confidence, motivation, respect for the environment and others, social consciousness, and more are fostered. We believe a successful student and therefore adult, needs not only to be academically bright but also have strong soft skills. Interacting with others in a positive way, celebrating differences, positive conflict resolution and being an active citizen are high on the priority list.
In my classroom, students are engaged in meaningful, concrete lessons using hands-on materials designed to create experiences that will trigger lasting memories and not just facts that last momentarily.
My students stay with me for 3 years. This means I get to know them and they me, extremely well. We become a true family. Being an advocate of diversity, our school saves a minimum of 40% of the classroom population for free/reduced lunch students. ALL children regardless of economics, religion, race, religion should be given access to the highest quality of education.
My Project
This project and items are specifically chosen to encourage collaboration and team building in the classroom! I am asking for a round table and chairs that will be used to create a comfortable and collaborative seating area for several students at once to eat snack together, practice food preparation and learn about food portioning and healthy eating choices. This table will allow me to model appropriate table manners, preparing and serving a healthy snack during class time. I have also included food preparation tools including measuring cups/spoons and safety knives to aid us.
This table will serve as a space to practice collaboration, sharing, turn-taking, positive healthy eating and creativity.
When not being used as a snack space, this table will also function as a craft space. I have added some aquabeads to the shopping list as an exciting craft project that will encourage the same ideals above: turn-taking, sharing and imagination!
