My Project

Sensory corners and rooms have become incredibly popular in schools, for great reason! In our special education classroom, we already have a calm down corner, however I would love to expand this area into something more.

I want to give my students a safe place to sit or lay and just be.

Whether holding a sensory object and feeling the different textures, playing with a maze, using a fidget, or just simply sitting, I would love to have this area in my classroom.

In our special education classroom, we have a variety of needs. This project would allow for a space to be created that will have an assortment of options for all students in my room. Having a sensory space for decompression would open a door for more conversations and lessons about our emotions and aide in our students learning how to self-regulate.
