My class. Wow. I feel fortunate to facilitate the learning of such great kids and feel passionate about providing them with the absolute best experience possible. My students are creative dynamos who are interested, passionate and ready to problem solve! These wonderful kids love coming to school and showing their wit in their writing, their ingenuity in tackling STEM projects and their mindfulness throughout the day. We are creators, readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, horticulturists, engineers and environmentalists, and above all, we are awesome!
My Project
These colorful and engaging materials will help make a difference in the level of number sense my student attain this year. Students will use a variety of small things (erasers, zip ties, rubber bands, puff balls) to practice skip counting and subitizing numbers. They will use the groups they form to practice multiplication and division and fractions using real world items and hands-on tools! Instead of merely solving an abstract problem, students will use concrete materials to physically and visually interact with math problems. This will deepen my students understanding of the principals behind algorithms and will better prepare them for upper level math.
