Hawaii is known as the ALOHA state. We are a melting pot of many cultures, especially being located in the iconic and famous landmark of Waikiki. Here at PTJES, most of the students are bilingual, including myself. Every year, we have families from all over the world come here to live or learn English.
So language is a huge barrier to learning in the classroom.
With a translator device, I can open the line of communication with these students who are new to the country and make them feel a bit at home.
