Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I work in a 7th/8th grade Integrated Life Skills (ILS) classroom, in a low income area, with students with disabilities such as Down Syndrome and Autism.

My students are considered high risk, and with a heightened flu season and unfortunate budget cuts, we are in desperate need of cleaning supplies. My students' health should not be compromised because of insufficient funds for necessary cleaning supplies. Many of my students have missed a lot of days so far this year due to illness which takes away from their education. If you miss school, you miss out!

A few of my students have compromised immune systems and pick up germs quite easily. Having cleaning supplies such as disinfecting wipes will allow me to quickly clean their work areas which will help curb germ spreading. We also have a lot of spills throughout the day and the ready mop would be extremely helpful for such times. This would also be beneficial in helping the children learn to clean up after themselves.
