My class consists of 21 first graders. My school is in an urban area. All students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. These students overcome adversity every single day.
I have never seen such a caring and loving bunch of kids.
They are always eager to please the teacher. It seems like pleasing me in return makes them happy. I have a diverse classroom and students with various emotional and learning needs. My students enjoy coming to school every day and most importantly love to learn new things. They are such hard workers and I enjoy watching them grow each day. They are hands-on learners and I love to see their faces when they master a learning standard. I enjoy their innocence, motivation, and eagerness to learn. I am just as eager to provide them with the best resources to expand their learning.
I am requesting books abut African Americans. We celebrate Black History month as a school. We have a bulletin board to honor Famous African Americans. The new bulletin requested will provide more information on famous African Americans. During the month, we do daily announcements to honor Famous African Americans and their accomplishments. I am asking for books about African American to read during read aloud. I will read about persons such as Ruby Bridges and students will write how they feel about each person. I am also asking for a gift card to teacherspayteachers.com to purchase worksheets that are first grade friendly for Black History Month.
This project is important because it will help my students learn about Famous African Americans and the Civil Rights movement.
